Karen Power: …we return to ground…

On July 12, 2024, composer and sound artist Karen Power (fellow 2015), together with the Quiet Music Ensemble (Ireland), is launching her new album …we return to ground… . The album is being released on Other Minds and presents three of Power’s large-scale pieces that harmonize natural sounds with musical instruments. The pieces were written for and together with the Quiet Music Ensemble over the past eight years.
The Artists-in-Berlin Program is supporting the album with a reception at this year’s Heroines of Sound Festival, where a piece from the album will also be presented live, the German premiere of …we return to ground… with Mary Nunan (dance) and Atoosa Pour Hosseini (video) for field recordings, dance, video, quadrophony, clarinet, trombone, electric guitar, cello, double bass, water bowls with propellers, sand and stones.
