When still matter acts: time between seconds
(what stop-motion animation taught me about time and empathy)

In her presentation, Dana Kavelina will focus on her experience of doing a film on historical events by means of stop-motion animation. The talk will be set around the film “Lemberg Machine”, finished in 2023. Some fragments will be shown together with behind-the-scenes materials. Videos will be accompanied by ruminations on the disobedience of still matter, dolls acting as mediators of empathy, and the difficulties of reenacting historical time between seconds.

The event is part of the public program for the exhibition A Time in Pieces.

The lecture and talk will be held in English.
