Makaremi
Nastaran Makaremi lives as a writer, journalist and artist in Iran. After studying fine arts, Makaremi taught painting, design, Islamic art and Persian painting at universities in Tehran and Isafhan for eight years. As a journalist and literary critic, she writes for various Iranian media. Since 2014, she has also published poetry and short stories, for which she has received several awards; she also makes documentary works, films and performances. She has written four novels: Ordibehesht Deadlock (2015), Soiree after the Funeral (2017), Bergamot of Sun (2017) and most recently Total (2020). In addition to her literary work, Nastaran Makaremi is also politically active: she launched a campaign for imprisoned writers in Iran in both 2018 and 2021.
