DAS BUCHPROJEKT - Piotr Karski
17.04.2021 – 08.05.2021
DAS BUCHPROJEKT (The Book Project), a participatory and collective alliance of professional artists working in a variety of disciplines, seeks to test out new production formats for bringing into the world bold and thoughtful, funny and political, clever and sad stories for children and the adults around them. The project’s analogue exhibition space is located just across the street from the daadgalerie in the Projektraum für kreative Leseförderung. Beginning there in April is RoomMates, an exhibition series that explores storytelling possibilities in a space that can be accessed both physically and virtually. For the series, raumlabor berlin has designed a place that plays with the dual existence of analog and digital realms.
To kick off the series, Polish children’s book author Piotr Karski is creating a world of shadow puppetry where analog and digital visitors encounter one another on a shared screen. Karski, a graphic designer based in Warsaw, writes and illustrates children’s books and is the recipient of numerous national and international awards. His exchange with the Buchprojekt collective is made possible through the support of the DAAD Arts and Media Program. Following his exhibition, Brussels illustrator Anne Brouillard and Berlin author Nele Brönner will be developing other digital- and analog-based projects.
RoomMates is funded by NEUSTART KULTUR and is also supported by the DAAD Arts and Media Program and the Berlin representative of Eastern Belgium, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, and the Region of Wallonia.
The exhibition runs from April 17 through May 8.
