From the very beginning, the aim of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program was not only to offer residencies in Berlin but also to support current and former fellows in the production of their artistic work. Up until 1978, the focus was on collaborating with other partners and institutions in the city and beyond the borders of West Berlin in order to realize joint projects. Many of the comprehensive files included in the archive document the program’s involvement in the realization of artistic works in all disciplines, including exhibition projects, concerts, readings, and other public events since the late 1960s. Now, for the first time, the digital archive provides a view of the vast number of artistic projects realized by fellows in conjunction with the artists’ program. Available here are production documents, sketches, photographs, printed matter, and correspondence related to project developments and outcomes.
