Allbee-Parkins-Sőrés-Trio (Concert)
For Sampled Ground, current music & sound fellow, Zsolt Sőrés, joins forces with the Berlin based musicians, Liz Allbee and Andrea Parkins. Together, they will explore their common ground of electroacoustic improvisation practice and reflect processes of algorithms, repetition, and interpretation. Besides their iconic instruments such as the 5-string viola, the electronically processed accordion, and the self-designed quadrophonic trumpet, Allbee, Parkins, and Sőrés will play with voice, objects, electronic devices, as well as lo-fi and short digital samples.
Liz Allbee is a composer, performer & improviser residing in Berlin, Germany. She performs most often on self-designed quadraphonic trumpet, trumpet, electronics, and voice. Her work encompasses improvisation, electro-acoustic composition, and instrument creation, often focusing on issues of embodiment and extension.
Andrea Parkins is a Berlin-based sound artist, composer, and electroacoustic improviser who engages with interactive electronics as both material and process. She is known for her uniquely gestural/textural approach on her electronically processed accordion, and investigation of embodiment and chance with an array of sonic materials, including electronic feedback, amplified objects, custom-built software and acoustic instruments.
