Phil Collins was born 1970 in Runcorn and lives and works in Glasgow. He studied at the University of Manchester and the University of Ulster, Belfast. In his artistic work, Phil Collins investigates the boundary between reality and fiction, mainly as it is produced for television shows. He replicates the situations existing in reality shows, invites extras to participate and creates film documents of their spontaneous behaviour in front of the camera as expression somewhere between performance and demystification of the stylized television reality.
