GUSTAVO VINAGRE AT KINO ARSENAL
11.05.2023 / 19:00 – 22:30
With Gustavo Vinagre
Brazilian filmmaker and current film fellow Gustavo Vinagre is a highly creative protagonist of contemporary queer cinema. Following numerous documentary works, his first feature film Três tigres tristes (2022) is set in a dystopian but present future. Three young queer people drift through São Paulo during a pandemic, the main symptom of which is memory loss; memories can only be preserved through a collective effort. A surreal journey full of magic, nostalgia, fantasy and drag, with song, bright colors and harsh political realities.
The Director’s Choice will be Fernando Pérez’s Madagascar (1994), a mother-daughter story that explores societal inertia in Cuba and dreams of another world in metaphorical images.
