With Anna Ivchenko, Max Robotov, Ivan Svitlychnyi, Dmytro Tentiuk, Georgiy Potopalskiy and Daria Maiier
Dmytro Tentiuk, current fellow of a special program for encounters with artists and researchers from Ukraine, is part of the Ukrainian musical band _mediaklub. The daadgalerie will host simultaneously with the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv a concert, played by the members of _mediaklub.
Because of the war, members of _mediaklub reside in different countries, and one of them—Max Robotov—is currently at the front serving in the Ukrainian Army. In spite of these circumstances, the band continues to meet and rehearse online. Band members find solutions to the challenges presented by this arrangement—sound delays, disruptions, communicational problems—with the help of a hierarchical structure. The war prevents Max from playing guitar, but he gives the other band members instructions based on what he hears from them and knowing their capabilities, which they then carry out. So even if the musicians are not always in direct contact, they still manage to stay and play together.
_mediaklub is a group based on an open visual and sound environment and can be joined at any time by members of Photinus, the Ukrainian new media community. Accordingly, musicians, artists, programmers, and even a robot, GAIA, have participated in the group at various times. This principle of openness determines which media is used during the performances, from the sound itself to video mapping, and is also the key to its sustainability: the ongoing interaction between participants regardless of external circumstances.
