Anocha Suwichakornpong at Kino Arsenal

With Anocha Suwichakornpong
In her films, Thai director Anocha Suwichakornpong# examines representations of historical trauma through compelling imagery and narrative structure. Her most significant film to date, By the Time It Gets Dark (2016), revolves around a young director attempting to make a film about the 1976 massacre of students and communists at Thammasat University in Bangkok. From this starting point, Anocha creates a labyrinth of mirroring images in which the film in the film and individual takes are repeated in the other. As part of the longstanding collaboration with Kino Arsenal, Anocha Suwichakornpong will present her multiple award-winning feature film By the Time It Gets Dark (Dao khanong, Thailand 2016), followed by Nobuhiro Suwa’s H Story (Japan 2001) as Director’s Choice
