07.06.2021 / 20:00 – 21:30
with Wolfgang Lucht, Sheila Hayman, Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss
How we envision the future will determine future developments. For the Long Night of Ideas initiated by the German Federal Foreign Office, the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program brings together for an online discussion earth-systems scientist Wolfgang Lucht, filmmaker Sheila Hayman and architect Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss. From the perspective of their respective practices, they explore together what conditions are needed to focus on the long-term consequences of social action.
Earth-systems scientist Wolfgang Lucht conducts research at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), is a member of the German Federal Government’s Advisory Council on the Environment (SRU) and co-founder of Scientists for Future. Sheila Hayman is currently working with the MIT Media Lab on a film and book project on the ambiguities of artificial intelligence. Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss is researching the human desire for comfort and the development of air-conditioned spaces.
Sheila Hayman and Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss were/are artists-in-residence at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The Artists-in-Residence at PIK program is a collaborative project co-organized by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and the state capital Potsdam and is co-funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and the state capital Potsdam.
Moderated by Silvia Fehrmann, director of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program.
