Clara Maïda – Fiori Fuori
28.08.2021 / 19:00 – 21:00
With Clara Maïda
In 2020, as part of a scheduled garden festival marking Beethoven’s 250th birthday (BTHVN2020), visual artist Gisela Weimann created an installation of Trabant mirrors that was to be shown in a group exhibition at the Frauenmuseum in Bonn. As part of this installation, twelve contemporary composers were each invited to create a work for voice (s) that would translate and rethink Beethoven for contemporary audiences. The Artists-in-Berlin Program awarded one of these commissions to its alumna Clara Maïda (Fellow 2007).
Due to the pandemic, the exhibition and premieres of the commissioned works were cancelled in 2020, but the Der Garten der Komponistinnen (Garden of Female Composers) was finally able to open in March 2021. On August 28, a concert featuring works by Violeta Dinescu, Eva Donaire, Katia Guedes, Ellen Hünigen, Mayako Kubo, Clara Maïda, Natalia Pschenitschnikova, Olga Rayeva, Annette Schlünz, Susanne Stelzenbach, Karmella Tsepkolenko, and Lucie Vítková will be presented before a public audience in Bonn.
