With Carlos Gutiérrez
MaerzMusik opens this year with an extraordinary collaborative project between the Berlin ensemble PHØNIX16 and the Bolivian Experimental Orchestra for Indigenous Instruments (OEIN) led by Carlos Gutierrez (fellow 2018).
Environment, an acousmatic and filmic composition, reflects the intense experiences of quarantine during spring of 2020, when musicians from both ensembles spent eighty-four days together under mandatory quarantine at the Rheinsberg Music Academy (Link zu dem Post auf unserer Webseite). While there they rehearsed for the performance of Environment, which was originally scheduled to be presented at MaerzMusik 2020 – eighty-four days that deeply impacted the artistic process, form and content of the project.
Watch the opening of MaerzMusik with the concert film Environment on 19.3. at 8 p.m. here.
In addition to Environment, MaerzMusik – Festival for Time Issues presents a series of artistic film-based and video works created during the stay in Rheinsberg. This includes the documentary Aus den 84 Tagen (From the 84 Days), made possible by the support of the Artists-in-Berlin Program and Ultima Festival Oslo.
