Stealth, murmur, sound in movement… with »Love and Rage«, Israel Martínez proposes a tribute to the resistance and persistence of critical individuals, movements, and collectives in Mexico and around the world. The piece is one of two works commissioned for the CTM 2019 Radio Lab, which will be awarded by Deutschlandfunk Kultur – Radio Art/Klangkunst and CTM Festival, in collaboration with Goethe Institute, ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst festival, Ö1 Kunstradio, and The Wire magazine for the 6th time. The concert takes place as part of CTM Festival, which celebrates 20 years from Jan 25 until February 3. In this spirit, this edition’s theme of Persistence makes use of a variety of venues in Berlin to present and reflect on new developments in global club music as well as critical and adventurous phenomena of current pop culture and experimental avant-gardes.
