Paula Gaitán, born in Paris in 1954, grew up between Colombia, Brazil, and Europe. The Brazilian filmmaker will begin her residency in Berlin in March. On March 30 at Kino Arsenal, Gaitán will present her penultimate film Luz nos Trópicos, an homage to the landscapes of the Amazon, the forests of New England, and the indigenous peoples of both Americas. Screening as Director’s Choice on March 31 will be Nanook of the North, Robert J. Flaherty’s 1922 silent film with piano accompaniment by Eunice Martins. Gaitán will be in attendance on both evenings.
