POETICA 10: FESTIVAL FOR WORLD LITERATURE

“Poetic Thinking and Hospitality – Freiräume der Poesie” is the theme of Poetica 10, the tenth festival of world literature which will take place at various locations in Cologne from January 20-25, 2025. Poetica 10 is wholeheartedly dedicated to this sense of possibility in poetry. With authors from five continents, it seeks to ask: How do contemporary poems across the globe respond to the collapsing of spaces from social transformations, wars, autocracies, turbo-capitalism, or other mandates? How can we learn to open up poetic spaces of thought from poems and keep them open for all of us? How do we practice hospitality in language?

Four current or former literature fellows will be part of the festival program: Claudia Rankine (2025), Fiston Mwanza Mujila (2024), Sergio Raimondi (2018) and Sjón (2010).
