Sampled Ground - Emre Dündar / Angélica Freitas
01.10.2021 / 18:00 – 22:00
With Angélica Freitas, Emre Dündar
Slot 1: Emre Dündar, voice performance & lecture, 6 pm – 8 pm
The Turkish composer-performer, Emre Dündar (BKP Award Fellow 2020), presents a solo vocal performance with keyboard and tape followed by a short lecture. The performance will be an extension of De Vulgari Eloquentia, a piece he presented at Ultraschall Festival 2021 in Berlin as part of his portrait concert together with Ensemble KNM. It is based on his long-time research on the manifold languages of Anatolia, their dialects and melodies. Dündar splits up language into small fragments of sonic and phonetic nuances to assemble them as new patterns. In his subsequent lecture, Dündar will present some provocative ideas about improvisation, transcription, and “fake folk” in the context of contemporary music to inspire a discussion with the audience.
Slot 2: Angélica Freitas, poetry performance, 9 pm
