World Poetry Day 2024: A Celebration of Poetry

The UNESCO World Poetry Day will be held in Berlin for the twenty-fifth time. On March 21, 2024, five poets will read in five different languages: Leila Hekmatnia (b. 1991 in Iran), Oleksandr Irwanez (b. 1961 in Ukraine), Dilek Mayatürk-Yücel (b. 1986 in Turkey) will appear together with musicians and composers Amen Feizabadi (b. 1983 in Iran), as well as John Sauter (b. 1984 in Germany) and Kinga Tóth (b. 1983 in Hungary, currently an Artists-in-Berlin Program fellow). UNESCO World Poetry Day honors the importance of poetry, linguistic diversity as a cultural asset, and the significance of oral traditions.

Readings will be held in the original language. German translations will be projected.
