DE+ZA- verse, perfomative poetry and hip-hop between Johannesburg and Berlin. In this literary-musical exchange project, artists from South Africa have written new texts and composed new melodies and sounds with their German colleagues. In Autumn 2015 they enthralled the Johannesburg audience. Now they have a total of four performances in Berlin. The authors and musicians got to know each other in workshops and searched for their common ground. On both sides, they translated texts, performances and content into their own language and art form. Together they explored new aesthetics and produced translation, music and creation which captures both genres.
The four day DExZA-Festival will be launched with texts, performance and concert in the Heinrich Böll Stiftung. The following evening at the Literatur Werkstatt Berlin/Haus für Poesie, the artists will present their works from the workshops and give a glimpse into the poetry, spoken word and music scenes in Johannesburg and Berlin.

A project by No Boundaries e. V. and the Word N Sound Festival, sponsored by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung. With financial support of from the Department of Foreign Affairs/German Embassy Pretoria, Goethe Institute Johannesburg, central Geothe Institute Munich and DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. Supported by the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin/Haus für Poesie and the South African Embassy in Berlin.
