With Manuel Abramovich
Manuel Abramovich likes to go unseen. The Argentinian documentary filmmaker specializes in observational situations where he can be both distanced and intimately present at the same time. Kino Arsenal is presenting three phases of his filmography: La reina (2013), a hit at festivals worldwide, recounts the story of a beauty queen; Soldado (2017) follows a young man during basic training with the Argentine army; the short documentary Blue Boy (2019), his most recent work, gives Romanian sex workers a voice and won the Silver Bear prize at the Berlinale. Following these films, Abramovich will present
Frederick Wiseman’s Titicut Follies (US, 1967) as his “Director’s Choice” at 9:30 pm.
