Artists from Ukraine have had a strong presence at DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. Composer Valentin Silvestrov, writers Serhij Zhadan and Juri Andruchowytsch, as well as visual artists Iliya Chichkan and Boris Mikhailov were award fellows. In 2014, the much noted exhibition The Ukrainians at daadgalerie presented artistic interventions reflected artistic interventions during the political unrest in times of the Maidan movement. To honour these long-standing relationships, we have invited artist Lada Nakonechna and curator Bettina Klein to convene a series of interdisciplinary encounters with artists and cultural practitioners from Ukraine.
